Re: only 1 scart socket on my tv aah!

if your ntl box and vcr each have 2 scart leads, that would be ideal. you could then run scart leads from:
DVD to NTL
NTL to VCR
VCR to telly

is ths possible? better than a 3 to 1 converter, cos then you could record from the ntl box

to the site btw

Re: only 1 scart socket on my tv aah!

mmm, looks like you'll have to use the splitter you bought then. you cold run something to the tv via coax but you don't really want that with a shiny new telly

anyone got any ideas?

Re: only 1 scart socket on my tv aah!

thansk for getting back to me!
I'm hanging on your every word!!
so..if i put 3 way splitter into back of tv and then run the 3 scarts off ntl/dvd&video
will i be able to record off ntl using video?
when i tried to do this earlier- the picture (via ntl) was rolling like mad!
should i have switched things off so tv only gets the one signal??(Ivia scart)
also you know the cable you mention , is that the red yellow whte one? if i have to use a separate connection for dvd is that the one i should use? (true, it looks hideous plugged into front of my beautiful lcd tv!!)
thanks mate

Re: only 1 scart socket on my tv aah!

coax is a single cable (like the one you probably used to use to connect to an aerial). your tv may well not have an input for this!
the red/white/yellow are known as RCA
i guess you've got 2 options:

TV <---scart---> VCR <---scart---> NTL
|
\--rca---> DVD

VCR <---scart---> NTL
|
+-- splitter thingy ---> TV
|
DVD

ah the joys of ascii

very good

cosmetically the second one is better, but relies on the splitter working - I wonder, fee, when you tried it before, did you try it with different scart leads? IIRC you need 'fully wired' leads for it to work??

we had a similar set up with an analogue decoder, which doesn't have scart out, a vcr & a dvd. The switched scart splitter worked fine, so the leads are the only thing I can think of that would stop yours working

Re: only 1 scart socket on my tv aah!

RCA is the collective term for the three coloured leads you plug in at the front of your tv. yellow carries composite video, red and white carry stereo audio

eek, ignore that! i was talking about my failings trying to draw the diagram.

make sure its the splitter that doesnt work before you buy anything new... test all your scart leads in conjunction with t and see if they are your problem.
