Hot Pace STB

How hot should these things be getting? I know its normal a little heat but this thing is so hot its very uncomfortable to touch...it cant be good for the box and in the worst case it could be a fire hazzard?

Mine have always been super hot. One of mine over heated though because there wasn't much ventilation in the cabinet. So long as there is plenty of air around, and if it is in a cabinet, that 2 sides are open, you should be fine.

Make sure you dust it often though, as it could ignite.

Re: Hot Pace STB

Most PACE STBs double up quite nicely as a room heater. Who knows why they have to waste so much energy.

i've just had a second stb installed in my bedroom, it's located on the top of my chest of drawers and it's made all my clothes warm!

Re: Hot Pace STB

The biggest mistake people make is that they put things on top of the stb and this will make the box over heat, the other reason is that the catv levels could be out and the box is "overworking" to correct this.
