Sorry, no. Your broadband is supplied through the modem only. not the STB

Been thinking of going wireless, just wondered if that RJ45 port on the back of the STB could be utilized

Re: Newbie Question

Nope the way your broadband has been set up means that RJ45 port will do nothing. Some get their ntl BB via the STB, others by modem. A popular concensus around here is that BB via modem can be better, especially if your STB is a PACE model (the Samsung STBs being more modern are better equiped to handle faster BB speeds.

Typically ntl will only allow one BB account at any one address, so there is no way the STB connection can be activated (as this would have a separate account to the modem).

urm... isn't this a question in the telewest forum??

I presume the facts would be the same for telewest, but can someone verify this?

Re: Newbie Question

Another downfall of running your service from your set top box is at present you cant get a speed faster than 1mb as the box cant handle it. You could ask them to send you out euther a wired or wireless kit to run from the back of your STB but a modem connection is much better, If you require wireless i would adv you to buy a router
