You wait ages for an engineer then two come along at once...

Last thursday I had cause to phone customer services due to a failure of my broadband service. An engineer was booked to come the following morning.
Late on thursday night, the stb appeared to have repaired itself and all was normal again, so I put in a call first thing on friday to cancel the engineer.

You guessed it, two hours later, who should come knocking at the door, having battled through blizzard conditions? The ntl engineer. He seemed quite relieved that his services were not required, and that I thought, was the end of it.

10.15am today - I'll set the scene; I was having a bit of a lie in on a precious day's holiday when what should I hear but a tap at the door. Not expecting anyone at this hour, I chose not to answer, but was then disturbed by a telephone call -

"Hello sir, this is ntl, we believe you had an engineer booked for this morning" I very politely explain the story - "Oh, sorry, looks like it must have been rebooked"

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the extra special care that ntl have afforded me, but is it any surprise they're failing in other areas when wasting resources like this? Perhaps I should get one of those door hangers like they have in hotels - "FAO ntl, your services are not required today"

well, there's talk of NTL putting a lot of money into getting customer services improved, hopefully issues like this will be a thing of the past, but you never know really.
