usb conection through stb
At the moment I connect from a set top box through an adapter with a flashing light to a usb conection on my computer. I lost my instalition disc after formating and was told i didnt need a new one as ntl recognised the adapter with the flashing light and all i had to do was plug it in let windows find and install it and away i go. This is great as i can switch the conection from my pc to my laptop with no bother. If i change from usb to eathnet conection as this is better can i still swap between my pc and my laptop and will i need an instalation disc to register

Hi gonk,
Not sure about the answer to your question, I have a funny feeling it's not quite that simple but I'm sure somebody with a bit more experience will be along soon to offer their knowledge.
In the meantime, kick off your shoes, sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay

Re: usb conection through stb
The drivers for the USB to Ethernet adaptor that you have are on the ntl installation cd, so if you intend to install the device on another pc/ user it after a reformat then yes you will need a disk. Alternatively, you can download the drivers from
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/triage/drivers/
If you are using ethernet, you do not need the cd, connect everything up and try browsing, if it works, cool if not, then go to http://start.ntl/ and register the computer. Reboot, then all should be up and running properly

Re: usb conection through stb
you will have to register any computer/ router/ usb adaptor that you are going to connect once, and you can register upto five devices. Once they are registered once, you will not have to do this again unless you have a replacement STB or change the speed of connection that you are using.
