Audio crackle

Recently ive started to get crackling through my STB. It isnt the tv as ive tested it through ext speakers too. Ive tried the volume on 8. Ive rebooted the box several times. No joy.

Any ideas what could be causing the crackling. It happens frequently, every 30 secs.

Thanks in advance

Re: Audio crackle

Have you eliminated ALL other possibilities?
For example, the scart cable.

If you have then it is possible that it's interference from some nearby transmitter but, I'd suggest, it's most likely to be a box fault.

Re: Audio crackle

Is this the old "excess level" problem - and when will they rebalance, or preferably enable user balance, of the levels - the sound from the box, by SCART, is several clicks of volume level above the NICAM terrestrial sound from the TV.

No - Stafford is a Langley area, and that problem has never existed on the Langley boxes. Plus it sounds like it has just happened, without any software or hardware change.

You have any cordless or mobile phones in the vicinity?

Re: Audio crackle

The scart has been the same for a while now but i could check with another one. Ive installed home cinema kit and dvd-r but the interconnects and scarts are high quality so shouldnt cause interferance but maybe the problem?. I do have a wireless net connection to my xbox by the STB and we have cordless phones. But we've had the same cordless phones for ages.

Funnily enough our phone line has been down for ages. Could it be the phones?

Re: Audio crackle

From past experience not many of them seem to know from experience what problems like this could be, they seem to read of screens so i thought i'd ask here first.

I'll probably get in touch next week

CS, haha.. You'd get more info off the back of a packet of cornflakes.

I've had this for 15 months mate. The only advice you'll get off here is to change to sky or stop moaning.

Well yeah, in your case you get told to do that because all you have preferred to do about it is moan all the time and then when someone tells you their opinion or the best advice on what to do, in your rude & stubborn obnoxious way you tell others to shut up, do not be so quite surprised at loosing all sympathy your with your issue when you act like this on a forum.

What he says.

Plus I'd also like to add that he won't get the same advice as you, as his problem is different to yours. He is on the Langley network, and so it is not a problem with the software.

Re: Audio crackle

I'm in the Langley area and have noticed this audio crackle / pop thing too . It's most noticeable on the music channels, especially Eminem's new video 'Like Toy Soldiers' but happens on the others (to a lesser extent) too.

Pace 4001, In the Midlands.
It's not the TV as that's brand new and it happened on the old one too, It's just more noticeable now as this TV's better.
