Re: Smart Card Not Registered - Help!!!!!

Hi Kelly and ,

Have you tried rebooting the DTV box?

Just unplug it at the wall and count to 15.

While it's unplugged, take the card out and make sure that the contacts etc on the card are free of dust and other fluffiness. Make sure you wipe it gently (a soft, lint-free cloth is best).

Now put the card back in (making sure that it is seated correctly in the slot) and power the beast back up.

Leave it a while and see what happens.

You will find that it looks like it is ready after a minute or so, best to leave it 5 minutes or maybe a bit more before you try changing channels.

If that doesn't work then I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest.

What area are you in? Maybe somebody else is having similar problems.

Good Luck!

kellym

If you have followed Raitalin's instructions there isn't much more that you can do i'm afraid

Could be a CATV outage in your area, do you have broadband as well? if so, is that working at the moment?

Re: Smart Card Not Registered - Help!!!!!

I`ve had this problem for just over a week. I`ve contacted ntl about 6 times but get fobbed off. Latest answer is that the card and the box number don`t match. I have had digital for a year, but last month started to have trouble with the channels. Engineer duly came and fitted new box and card which gave me good service until last week. Then no tele, no radio channels. The new boxes I have heard are set up for full packages, not just the basic or family packages. Perhaps they are starting to move away from the lower-end packages? Perhaps they cannot adapt these latest boxes for these simpler packages.
I might have to cancel my family package, then try to sign up again for a new service?
As a last resort I have emailed a complaint through-we will see.
Is Sky family ok? Do they include Classic FM in their radio channels. Can the Sky system tie into the ntl telephone line ok?

Re: Smart Card Not Registered - Help!!!!!

The box you have has nothing do with the channels that can be received.

What area do you live in?

Re: Smart Card Not Registered - Help!!!!!

I live in Teesside. I have seen comments elsewhere for other areas of the country, on other forums which describe the same problem, and I guess ntl are having some issues which cannot be easily resolved.

Where on earth did you hear this? Ain't remotely true.

PM me your smartcard number and/or mac address. That'll let me have a look at the box. Are you able to get channels 1-5 on digital?
