Linking from an image....

Ermmm..couldn't think of a better way to put it, but anyway...

I'm looking for a program (?) or any other way of finding out if an image from a website is been used on another website somewhere..

e.g.

If there was an image here "www.richie.com/image.jpg" is there any way i could find out if another website was using it in a page, but instead of uploading it themselves, they were linking to it directly from the original website (www.richie.com/image.jpg).

I hope i've made myself clear

Thanx for any help

Richie

Re: Linking from an image....

I don't know of any program that can do it, but you can do it with Google..

Enter "link:url" (eg. link:http://your.page.com/image.jpg) into the search box. Hope that helps.

Re: Linking from an image....

If you run the original site you could check the logs of the web server.

Re: Linking from an image....

If you are concerned about this (knicking images or bandwidth) then you need to stop this via your hosting company. If you're on Apache then this is easy providing you have access to .htaccess:

Or if you are with I-Web, go to CPanel, select "Web Protect" and select which folders you want protected..
