HELP! watch ntl & change channel on a linked tv??

I have 2 ntl boxes in my house; one in the lounge & one in the bedroom. I have now just put a new tv on the wall in my kitchen with a coaxial cable linked from the pace 4000 box in the bedroom so I can watch whatever is showing on that box. However, I wanted to be able to change channels without having to keep running upstairs - so, I bought a TV-Link from www.tvlink.co.uk only to find out that these only work with SKY. I spoke to TV-Link & they said that if the "IR DATA RATE" of my pace 4000 box was between 30-50 MHZ then I could buy a TV LINK+ from them in addition to the standard TV Link (used together) this would work & I would be able to change channel from the set in the kitchen.

So I have two questions that I need help with here:

1) Does anyone know the "IR DATA RATE" of a pace 4000?
2) Does anyone know of any other way to change channel without running up & down stairs constantly?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you all.

I'm not sure if this will work but it might!

You could purchase another common-or-garden remote control for use in the kitchen. This will transmit remote codes that the TV-Link will understand. Then at the STB end you'll need a device called a Red-Eye to convert these to the special protocols used by these cable boxes.

More details here:

and from another member, Mike Harrison.

Alternatively, you could do the same job wirelessly using a Digi-Eye remote control extender instead of the TV-Link:
