Analogue channels over cable line
I have a setup where my cable line is split into 2 bits (one part into the digibox and the other into my TV RF socket).
When tuning I get the 5 terrestrial channels clearly, aswell the ever useful QVC. I can also make out other channels but the pictures are obscured with some kind of wavey thing going on. The sounds comes through. These channels are Sky One, ITV2, UK Gold (I think) among others.
Is there any way of getting them clearly at all?

With newer TV's that do a frequency search rather that a UHF search, you can pick up Sky one and ITV2, although UKgold is still scrambled.

Re: Analogue channels over cable line
It's a shame that NTL can't at least put the free-to-air channels down the analogue bypass

Re: Analogue channels over cable line
You can pick up a few of the channels, but the ones that are fuzzy will stay fuzzy I'm afraid as that is the encoding on encrypted channels

Re: Analogue channels over cable line
im trying to do this, but all the channels seem to be fuzzy. im using an avermedia tv tuner card connected to a splitter (only pay for broadband) and all i want is the 5 channels with clear reception. ive tried removing splitter and plugging just the tv cable to the isolator ntl gives you, but i still get same crap quality.
ive tried other tuning progs like christv, same result. however im just using autoscan, should i be manually tuning?
please help, thanks
ps. attached is an example of the best reception im getting, most channels are garbled. the audio, however, seems to be very good on most channels...

Re: Analogue channels over cable line
Hi,
Just of interest, when I try this (Pace 200 in Ex CWC area) all I can receive is channel 4, but perfect - nothing else can be found.. Is this an ex-CWC feature!

well i solved the problem - the cable itself was crap. trying my m8s it worked perfectly and im getting various channels with almost perfect quality.
btw, you dont connect to tv via your modem! its just a direct connection to the aerial socket, and if you have the cable with a satellite plug instead of an aerial plug on the end...
ANAND INTERNATIONAL (and other shops im sure) sells the little plug to put on the end of ur cable so it fits in ur telly.
see you

Re: Analogue channels over cable line
Here, we use it for getting BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, five, Sony TV Asia, UKTV Documentary, and scrambled (with no audio), we can get CNN (totally unwatchable).
But our TVs only tune UHF - I'm sure with VHF, we could get more! Can anybody else get more with VHF (preferably Sky One!!)?

Re: Analogue channels over cable line
I think all you need is a TV with a VHF tuner - basically, an old one, or a specialist one, I think.

Re: Analogue channels over cable line
A return path filter on the cable you are illegally splitting would be nice by the way to stop your TVs chucking garbage back onto the cable network.
Also don't hold ya breath enjoying this stuff too much, analogue's days are numbered bwahaha.
*Hates analogue it plays havoc with the digital signals: http://www.scte.org/chapters/newengl...e/CPD/cpd2.htm

It's certainly not illegal just to recieve channels 1-5 - whether or not it causes return path problems is another matter, but it's that users SACM that'll suffer most.
