Solve one problem; create another!

After deleting my NTL main account and creating a new one (I was recieving far to much crap on the previous one - thread titled "HOW DO I STOP IT?") I have successfully stopped all unwanted mail. But...... now I am not using the new main account (as advised by members on here) I have created two others. One of them will not work at all (although Outlook does a test and says all is OK - The message gets to the server, but will not pop up in my inbox ) and the other will only work if I set it up to forward through another ISP.

I mailed NTL this afternoon, and to their credit, they replied within a few hours, but unfortunately is was a 'bog standard' reply on how to set up my account in Outlook 2003 and I know how to do that

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you getting any error messages when you click 'send and receive'? Have you tried mailing the accounts from an account that you know works? And if so, do the messages arrive on webmail?

Nope, no error messages. I've tried everything I can think of and all that happens is when I log into the webmail, there they all are sat there going nowhere

Re: Solve one problem; create another!

Just in case it's a problem with your setup of Outlook 2003, can you try temporarily using Outlook Express, and see if that will send recieve OK?

Re: Solve one problem; create another!

I don't know about outlook 2003, but outlook express has a checkbox 'include this account when receiving' in the properties tab'. Perhaps that (or it's equivalent) is unchecked?

In Outlok 2003 from the menu bar

Tools > Options > Mail Setup Tab

Look in the Send/Receive button

Done that - everything checked that should be! The thing is, I have SIX email accounts set up; 2 with NTL and 4 with 1&1. All the 1&1's are fine and it's via that that I have to forward one of mt NTL accounts for it to work. The other just won't forward even though it's set up PRECISELY as the other NTL account.....

Re: Solve one problem; create another!

I think I have two options:

Put up with.........or Call NTL. If I do call them, what the hell do I say? It's not as if I'm a novice. I know I've set up everything otherwise nothing else would work, but if they can't see anything from their end they're sure to say it's my fault

It really bugs me. Perhaps I should just let it go.........

Re: Solve one problem; create another!

You say you cannot forward one of the ntl accounts. Presumably you are doing this through webmail? If that is the case it implies something is wrong with the ntl server for the account, in which case that may be enough ammunition when dealing with the CS bods.

Do you get any error messages in Outlook that might help confirm where the connection fault lies? Are you able to setup Outlook Express to access any of the ntl accounts?

Re: Solve one problem; create another!

MGP:

Thanks for sticking with me on this I will try Outlook Express, but it will have to wait until next week. Luckily my main email addy is with 1&1, so it's not as if I'm not able to contact or be contacted.

I'll set up the NTL ones in OE and go from there. I'll keep you posted....
