Angry No TV service at all

Anyone know what's afoot? "Err3" on set top box and no TV whatsoever. NTL call centre useless. They cut me off when they closed at 8.30 tonight, halfway through a conversation which had only just begun after I had waited in the queue for 20 minutes.

Bad etiquette to reply to one's own, etc., ... sorry, but thought I should add this. NTL robot woman on NTL's help line phone says No TV Service At All in CB3 area (and somewhere else) and sorry etc., and NTL are working on it. I am not in CB3 but am not far away from there, in another CB postcode area. Just FYI.

Re: No TV service at all

Off the top of my head (although I'm always happy to be proven wrong), there's no conceivable way that Err3 could be linked to a network outage. Err3 is usually an indication that your STB has shuffled off the mortal coil, I'm afraid.

Thumbs down Re: No TV service at all

Ah. New box, then. Thanks, people. Will call them again when they climb out of bed in the morning. And brace myself for 'Unplug it, dear,' etc. TTFN.

Thumbs up Re: No TV service at all

Thanks all for clear info about the terminal nature of Err3. I began the chat with "Experts have told me that means my box is dead..." which elicited an instant "Yes. We will replace it", which saved a lot of agro. They're coming tomorrow. Many thanks to list members.
