Winsock corruption

I have got the problem of an internet stack winsock corruption making comp show a 192 default address and unable to conect to NTL Broadband this was put right by an engineer using a disc to cure this problem. Now if I restore my comp using the restore discs I will loose this and I will be back to a 192 default unable to connect to NTL. Does anyone know how to get a download to copy to a disc or make a perminent instal to cure a winsock internet stack corruption
