Recording Cable on Holiday

I'm going on holiday next week (for the first time in about 20 years!) but I'm going to miss at least one programme I want to video because there is no way I know of to pre-programme a channel change on my Pace STB

With the old Analogue Box I could set up a date/ time recording slot for any time in the next couple of weeks and the box would change channel as required, but it seems that with the Digital Box I can only set it to one cable channel and miss the other programme.

If anyone knows of a way to get past this, please let me know!

Re: Recording Cable on Holiday

You can only set it up to swap channels up to 3 days in advance so unless the programs are within the next couple of days then, unfortunately, you are out of luck.

Re: Recording Cable on Holiday

But he is not going to get installed in time anyway to record it even if it did and I think it would be abit much to record just one programme.

Can you not ask someone you trust to record it for you Graham, or try ask someone else who has the means to record the channel and programme for you?

I can't remember if it does either, but it does have a manual record feature where you can manually enter the date and times.

I do have a friend who can do so, but it would be more useful if I could do it myself

Re: Recording Cable on Holiday

Just a suggestion, why don't you just leave the STB on the channel you want to record whilst you're away?

Re: Recording Cable on Holiday

I haven't tried it but I understand that some of the fancy remotes are up to this. Have a mooch round here:

http://www.remotecentral.com/

You may need to add a RedEye remote converter if you have an 'old' box.

Because he wants to record more than one channel...

It seems quite stupid that the old analogue boxes can do it & yet the digital ones can't.

No and No!!!
Sky have to update your subscription (if this involves a new viewing card or not, I don't know), and you need a new LNB on your dish, and new dual-core coax cable from the dish to the box.

I think if you just plugged a Sky+ box in, and put your card in, it will work just as normal Sky and won't let you record anything.
