I think it will depend on the area - It was a local firm that installed my cable modem not an NTL man/van. I do know that they are very tightly controlled by NTL though - must follow their standards/guidelines etc.

Kelly's and McNicholas Construction are the main contractors afaik. Thought there may be others in different franchises.
