No sound on Sky

Was enjoying the Frank Skinner show tonight on Paramount when suddenly the sound went off on all channels - not a peep from any of them. Analogue worked ok so it wasn't my tv. I disconnected then reconnected all leads, rebooted the box, took the card out, cleaned it, etc all the usual palava and still nothing.

Phoned Sky, only to be told the faults department are closed until 8:30am - wonderful.

And worse than this, I got through to an Indian callcentre. I really wish there was a suitable alternative to Sky and NTL, I really do....

Far be it for me to get in the way of your personal feud with Sir Drinks A Lot, but when I read his comment, I was under the impression he was taking a humorous swipe at ntl's "cure all" suggestion for any problem.

"Try rebooting your set top box"

"I've already *done* that!"

"Well... try doing it again...!!!"

Re: No sound on Sky

i have lost sound a couple of times on sky one but it comes back if you change channels then change back again......to be honest this has been the only fault ive ever had with ntl....my digibox is an old pre ntl one with the cable and wireless brand on it and it always seems ok and runs my 1mb perfectly
ive never had any probs with ntl and before that c&w and before that nynex

This is the only sound problem I have ever had as well - and it has affected all my STB's at some point.

That fault should be fixed now, on both platforms.

Do you know which headend feeds you and which STB model you have?

Do you mean fixed in CR3 ? It last happened to me on Monday - I don't have CR3 yet.

Re: No sound on Sky

Theres two fixes, a hardware fix and a LCR3 fix, the LCR3 fix was a backup, but most places I have asked about the issue, it has been reported as fixed. I have not seen the issue on any of my boxes since the hardware fix before Xmas.

Re: No sound on Sky

ok. Obviously I don't have the h/w fix - I still have the boxes as supplied when I switched to digital so I guess i'll wait for CR3 to fix it. FYI it happens on one of my boxes about once a month.

Re: No sound on Sky

The hardware fix was in the equipment centrally not in the STB.
