Broken cable
Hi,
I've managed to rip the connector off of the end of the cable , I've tried fixing it back on but am not having any luck.
someone plesae let me know;
A) Can I buy a length of cable which has already been made up (approx 10metres)?
B) is there a special way to put the connector back onto the cable?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Broken cable
would you like to give us a clue as to what cable you are talking about , if it is the coax one into your stb or modem then you really shouldnt play about with it

Re: Broken cable
you can buy the cable and connectors at your local maplins store. some stores will offer pre-made cables but i think you'll find they r upto 5 metres
i believe this is what u need but CHECK with someone at your local store.
F TYPE CONNECTOR PLUG
http://www.maplin.co.uk/search.aspx?...2m10&worldid=2
these plugs never work as they should. they dont screw on properly or crimp properly. the metal either breaks or is not tight enough around the cable. i used some cellotape to keep plug securely on. works fine for me.
RF COAX CABLE ( not sure the exact one you need, ask local maplin store)

[ just noticed you said this is for a STB and not cable modem. don't know much abt STB's so not sure the advice above is applicable]

potentially dodgy ground methinks , if you do manage to repair it badly then you could cause other users problems , it is up to you i suppose , if you take a chance and get away with it then fine , if not
