Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

Here is a link to a press release this morning.

Sounds like pretty good value to me. Although the current £5 a month offer still seems like the best bargain of the moment.

I don't get it, so if I want a SIM only with Web I can't on this deal, it doesn't make sense. Also the price quoted for the Blackberry is more than they are offering now.

SIMO with Web are astill avaliable though, just not part of this offer at the moment.

Re: Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

Hi, about 2 weeks ago me and my wife upgraded to the £15.32 tariff with blackberry 8520, before this we were on the £10.32 tariff. The £15.32 tariff gives me 100 mins, 500 texts, 1gb internet and unlimited virgin to virgin mins, but this new deal for xl customers is the same as mine with unlimited texts for £9.99! would I be able to change to this or am I stuck, seems a bit unfair!

If you are in a contract, you have to wait until it finishes before you can change to a cheaper tariff

Re: Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

I am on the £10.21 SIM only deal and have 200 minutes, 1GB internet, 3000 texts and 3000 Virgin to Virgin minutes (just checked it online).

Also I think (but not sure) I am only on a one month contract. Why is mine better than those quoted above?

Re: Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

Because it's a SIM Only deal

The ones we were discussing were for the Blackberry handset offer

Re: Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

So these deals do not include Sim Only with Web, you have to get a handset ?

Re: Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

At present, that's correct. Probably because the SIMO deals are pretty good in their own right at the moment, so Virgin want to push handset/contract deals

Re: Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

Thanks for clearing that up. Shame, as I would have bought my way out of my current contract if the price was right for a Sim only. Not worth it at the moment as I only pay £15 a month now. Only 10 months till contract end.

Re: Virgin Media makes talk even cheaper - apparently!

Is this deal only available to 'L' and 'XL' phone packages? I'm on VIP20 with Talk Unlimited and wonder if I can take the offer?

If I can I have another question. I have a pay monthly Virgin mobile (out of contract) but not a different account. Would I be able to transfer that number over to the main account or would I have to take out a new number?

Talk Unlimited is XL

They would just replace the tariff on the number I would expect, if that's what you wanted to do

Thanks for that Ben, prompt and helpful reply as usual. Didn't realise it was the same tariff.

I need a new phone so would be a good deal for me as currently on 120 min/120 texts for £12, just wasn't sure if having taken the original contract with Virgin Mobile would have caused some sort of problem.
