Fluctuating BitRate

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but there didn't seem to be a right section for my question.

I am the end user of a Slingbox setup. The actual box is in the USA with my brother. I am getting fluctuating bit rates of data resulting in very poor picture quality and frequent freezes in data when the bit rate gets too low.

A good picture is usually between 2000 and 3000 kbps. It frequently drops below 200 and lately is around 600 or 800 kbps.

I am puzzled as to whether the issue in in the US end or mine.

In the US my brother has a wired 5mbps approx upload.
Here in the UK I get around 160 mbps download - wireless in the same room.

I view the slingbox through a webplayer which is there preferred method.

Apart from Speedtest which gives you a snapshot at a given time is there a way to test the stream you are receiving?

Sorry - I am not very technical (should have said that before).

I have one of the ac modems if that is helpful.
