Anyone else having issues with August's KB918899 patch?
I'm having major problems with this patch, in that it causes IE to be very unstable and crash with an error every few webpages you view.
Is anyone else getting this?
I am running XP Pro SP1 (will have to bite the bullet soon, with SP2 I guess, and clear up the aftermath ...).
Is there a list of issues anywhere I can view with regards to SP2?

Not had any issues so far, but patching has only just started here and we still have a very long way to go yet... will let you know in a few days, but I can expect to get a phone call during tonight if there are issues

Hi All,
I had problem with it. When it tried to install computer rebooted itself.
It eventually installed but I'm still not sure about it, feels a little odd.

Re: Anyone else having issues with August's KB918899 patch?
I've got the automatic updates on. Tuesday night, the first I knew about the update was when I was trying to turn my machine of and it came up with the choice "Install updates and shut down". Did so. It only installed one update.
I then tried the update. It crashed IE, so I waited till yesterday.
It downloaded 9 updates okay, but then failed. It didn't even get to the installation. I tried again. The updates then installed okay.

Re: Anyone else having issues with August's KB918899 patch?
Although not the same OS, I've had a boatload of problems with this patch on fully updated (SP4 and all availible updates from Microsoft) Windows 2000 machines. The problem has only appeared on 2000 machines, our XP SP2 machines (also fully updated) seem to be unaffected. So far we have only seen the problem on our internal Peoplesoft pages, but the patch is still quite new. So far I have noticed it crashing 'ntdll.dll' and another one, which I cannot recall now. It seems to affect different people in different places, but will affect the same person trying to do the same task every time. Thankfully it only 'infected' about 500 computers before we realized there was a problem and uninstalled the patch. It looks like Microsoft screwed up again!
