Never played multiplayer games until recently, Been playing COD and pings showing around 169. Everyone elses pings arround 250 - 1000, Why so different, what is best lower or higher ?? Also Keep getting cut off due to interupted connection ... Please advise

The lower the ping the better but it will depend on how you connect to the internet, how busy your section of the network is and how busy the game server is.

Surprised you could play with other players having pings of 250-1000 - this causes the dreaded "lag", where everything stutters, and really makes it **** (not very good).

Before you join a game, it often states the ping time - go for sub-150, preferably sub-100. Once you are in the game, when you look at the list of players, it usually states their ping on the same line as their name, kills, etc.
If you are the one with the high ping, eventually you will probably be kicked out of the game, as high pings affect everybody's gameplay.
