Ok, i want Internet Explorer to temporarily connect to another ntl: proxy.
I just need to know which ports to use and what site has a list of the proxies.

Re: ntl: proxy & port number
Thank you.
I just wanted to see if it would make a difference to surfing speeds or download speeds.
It's made no difference at all.
Still getting an average of 3Mbps on speed tests

Re: ntl: proxy & port number
The ntl proxies only intercept Port 80(webpage/http) traffic, p2p,ftp, online gaming etc will not be effected at all by changing proxy.

Re: ntl: proxy & port number
does your speed vary, or is it consistently low?

I know for sure its constantly low.
I don't usually use the computer in the morning, but because the guy from ntl: was coming, early around 9am i did a speed test and the average was 4Mbps.
It usually averages at 3Mbps in the afternoons and evenings.
When i first got 10Mbps about over 2 months ago, i was getting 9Mbps+
Only the last 2-3 weeks has it been getting slower and slower.

Re: ntl: proxy & port number
wander if theres someone in your neighbourhood maxing out their connection and degrading network performance everyone connected to your segment, otherwise it could just be that your connected to an oversubscribed UBR(universal broadband router, the thing that connect the cable network to the internet).
BTW, going offline now, but i'm sure someone else will be along to help

Re: ntl: proxy & port number
Thanks very much for your help.
How would i find out if its oversubscribed or if someone is constantly maxing out their connection.
There are only old people in my area (80+), and unless they're hardcore downloaders i dont know if it could be that, or maybe there are younger people who i don't know about.
Anyway, do i phone ntl: up and find out if someone is maxing out or if its oversubscribed?
