Networked printer

Hi i hope you can help.

I've got to network a printer using a netgear PS110. I've installed the software on the server but when i try to set it up using the name on the bottom of the Netgear box it can't see it....it is obviously something i'm doing....can you help....

Oh, i 've been told i need the pin the netgear box to find the ip but how do i do this?

The netgear will have a default IP address, the manual/quick install guide should be fairly clear about what it is and how to set it up.
Bear in mind that if your LAN is on a different subnet you won't be able to ping it.

Just had a quick look on the Netgear website and found this.

I Enabled TCP/IP, But Cannot Browse to the Print Server
Assign an IP address to the print server. This is done manually through the IP Setup in First Gear. NETBEUI must first be enabled on the computer that is used to configure the print server. Then you can run the IP setup in First Gear assign the IP address to the print server enabling it to be browsed by TCP/IP.



So it looks like your server will need NetBEUI installed to be able to use the Netgear software First Gear to configure the print server with an IP address.
