Will really depend if you hit that sort of rate month on month, and the network bods are struggling to maintain a "reasonable" level of service for the other customers in your region. If that is the case you may be contacted by ntl to advise of the problem with advice then on how to limit your monthly usage. Exceed it again and you could find your speed reduces, as far as I remember.
I believe though it is rare.

I wouldnt worry at all, even with poor service in the region they probably wont take action.

Re: NTL Download CAP's ?
Depends what connection you have, 1MB & 2MB are unlimited, 10MB has a 75GB cap which isn't strict so they won't mind if once every few months you go over ...

If all the talk and rumour about 10mb going unlimited (which has gone quiet I see) soon then it really won't matter at all I'd guess.

Re: NTL Download CAP's ?
Interesting issue, I play *UnReaL* Tournament 2004 every day for as long as twelve hours at once, with break in between, however calculating the amount of bandwith going through each second, on average and calulating each minutes usage, then going onto each hour - followed by how many hours played.
Gives a total of just over 5Gb a day, timings that by lets say 30 days is a whopping total, so *HOW* does one get around this problem?, I need 10mb unlimited
I hope NTL are reading these forum threads and taking notice.
Paying £34.99 is fair enough to me, but the 75Gb useage doesn't help with what I've said.
Heard nothing so far?
Should I panick?, its never happened to me before, when I was with Nildram and their 50Gb caps, lets hope for the best.
By the way guys, this is excluding normal useage such as browsing websites (e.g. Cable Forum, the inquirer.com, theregister.co.uk, channel4.com/sport/football_italia and all sorts), gosh the list goes on and on!
I think I'm a typical user, expect the only difference is bandwith is used nearly all the time due to connections to the game server and things
BTW - If NTL UNlimited was to come out soon, I don't think we should be paying anymore then we do now for 10mB... just a thought!

Re: NTL Download CAP's ?
Why do you need 10MBit for gaming? 2MBit would do fine...

Re: NTL Download CAP's ?
If his street is NTL cabled he will not be getting Telewest any time soon. Besides, they are technically the same company now anyway.

Re: NTL Download CAP's ?
I've been getting high pings with the 2mb connectiln, this 10mb NTL has been going great, with very low pings, which as you know is vital to gameplay experience!
I hate lagging, but the NTL 10mb has been making my day since joining NTL on the 9th on January 2006!

2MBit - > 10MBit will make absolutely no difference in Unreal whatsoever. If you are seeing a difference, it's related to something else entirely.

Re: NTL Download CAP's ?
I've been with Nildram 2mb and Pipex 2mb, they where very bad, when I say bad I mean bad for gaming, surfing the internet was brilliant, I went to NTL 1mb then 3mb I think it was, that was just as bad for some reason.
Now having said that the 10mb service is making my life a whole lot easier, I just appreciate that this is happening, I wouldn't have a care in the world if it cost for £34.99 or £99.99, I'd pay for it if I got a quality service.

It could make a difference if his 2mb line was utilised on other tasks whilst gaming and got saturated, a 10mbit line is harder to saturate.
