10mb, not showing on speeds!
Hi guys,
Ive recentley upgraded to 10mb last week and my speed test is still saying the following:
Downstream 5152 Kbps (644.0 KB/sec)
Upstream 364 Kbps (45.5 KB/sec)
Now everytime I ring up they say that the speed test isnt accreute and that, excuse the spelling lol. What it is, I was on 1mb then got automaticly upgraded to 4mb, then i phoned up and asked for 10mb but for some odd reason its saying im only on 5mb doing my test.
Can anyone advice me anything? I have no spyware or p2p programs open when I do these tests or anything.
Daz.

Re: 10mb, not showing on speeds!
Try the "Speed Test" link at the top of this page and see what that gives you

Re: 10mb, not showing on speeds!
Very much so. Try connecting via the Ethernet and then let us know how you get on. USB is severly limited in speed and is not made for networking

Re: 10mb, not showing on speeds!
Try using the Yellow cable to connect your PC to the modem (that is Cat-5 Ethernet cabling) USB is not meant for those kinds of speeds i'm afraid.

Re: 10mb, not showing on speeds!
Crossover cables will not work. You could convert them to Patch, but you would need spare connectors and a crimping tool.
You're probably best off going to a local hardware shop and getting one cheap, there worth at most around £5.

Re: 10mb, not showing on speeds!
If you want to be super clear you could ask for a CAT5 UTP Patch Cable and they should give you the correct thing.
