And they wonder why people don't like the EU

I see that for the ninth year running, the EU auditors have refused to approve the EU accounts. And yet, as far as I can see, it makes not a blind bit of difference; nothing is ever done about it and nothing will, apparently, ever be done about it. If you or I dared to submit a dodgy tax return, our feet wouldn't touch the ground before the Inland Revenue dragged us away.

Romano "Zero tolerance of fraud - pardon me while I roll on the floor with laughter" Prodi was on the TV news tonight trying to defend the indefensible and claiming that there was no problem. They also showed Neil Kinnock (you know, the one who's supposed to be eliminating fraud in the EU (pause for more riotous laughter)) looking like he wished he could sink into the ground with embarrassment.

And now we're taking in 10 new countries who, to be polite about it, aren't exactly paragons of financial rectitude.

I wish I could get one of those EU contracts that entitle you to freely steal from the EU taxpayers.

Aah, that wouldn't be Neil Kinnock who tried and failed twice to achieve power by democratic means would it? And now here he is, spending our cash in that oh, so democratic institution, the European Commission.

The E.U. is bent, and we would be utterly insane to align ourselves any closer to it.

Re: And they wonder why people don't like the EU

I really like the idea of being part of Europe/having the Euro/open markets etc.

....but when I see the laws coming out of Brussels and the corruption it puts me right off!
