Money For Nothing!
Originally I had a TV and telephone package with NTL which I then added Broadband to and they very kindly made it into a 3 for £30 package. This meant that my bill had to have a £9.49 discount every month to avoid overpayment which it did. Lovely stuff.
Then in September I cancelled my account completely as I was moving to an area where cable wasn't available (I'm not even going into the nightmare that speaking to Home Movers was!)
After the computer had "adjusted" itself I received a £74 credit in November and thought that was the end of it.
Then in December I received a bill from them (direct to my new address). No TV/telephone/Broadband charges but just a £9.49 credit for a 3 for £30 package. "That will be the computer adjusting its adjustments" I thought. But no. As of this morning I would appear to be £18.98 in credit with them with seemingly limitless potential.
I'm tempted to see how far it goes before they realise (if at all)

I'd be inclined to keep quiet about it

Well, I've done my bit. I rang them to tell them not to be so silly and no matter how hard I tried to impress upon them that I have not been a customer since the end of September, that they had already finalised my bill and sent me a cheque and this bill was a credit for the period 26 Jan to 25 Feb, a cheque will be authorised tomorrow for that amount and should be with me in the next 8 working days.
This gives a better monthly return than the interest on my savings account!!!

Re: Money For Nothing!
Hmmmm, it has to be authorised by the payment centre, they'll see there isn't a payment to credit it against so I'm 99% sure they will reject it......

I will most certainly keep you informed but the person I spoke to was absolutely adamant that it is my money. And it ain't.

I cancelled the Direct Debit back in October. And what exactly do you mean by "have u checked your bank account (if u have one)"? Are you calling me a Pikey?

Re: Money For Nothing!
So that is where my money has gone! They have been taking money from me without permission, agree they have done so, but do nothing about refunding it!

Re: Money For Nothing!
Thanks to someone on the Forum with "insider info" the problem has now been resolved and I should never hear from NTL again.

Re: Money For Nothing!
Thanks for offers of help. I have been pursuing a well worn path; writing direct, personally, recorded delivery to the CEO. I said that unless the issues were resoved by a certain date I would refer the whole issue to the Ombudsman. Within 24 hrs I had a phone call, and 48 hours later a cheque! Bingo. Oh, I did suggest that I might raise the issue at an AGM!
