vonage on ntl stb

Firstly, many thanks to those who helped me with my last prob!

Now my latest prob. I have got a vonage Voip from the states which in theory will give me and american number in the Uk. However, after plugging the Linksys RT31P2 router into my samsung stb, i cannot get it to work. When the router is in place, i cannot get internet access, or the dial tone on the voip phone line.

For reference this router is the same one as used in the american and UK vonage package. Their installation info is at: http://www.vonage.co.uk/help.php?art...egory=41&nav=3

If anybody has any ideas, i would greatly appreciate it, as my fiance, has gone back to the states today for christams, and it is aimed to be the easy and cost affective way to keep in touch!! :-)

Cheers, Andrew

When you change a connection to an STB eg changing from USB to Ethernet NIC, or changing to a replacement PC, Router, etc., you will have to ensure that the new device is registered with ntl: The information registered is a MAC address which in principle is unique for every networking device.

Re: vonage on ntl stb

Thanks for that reply. I have just worked things out myself. I went into the setting of the router, and made it clone the MAC of my PC, so that the stb thought the router was my PC!

So now I have a US number in the UK! Cool!

Again, thanks for your reply!
