adsl line test problems

i have ordered adsl before and failed the whoosh test.

the following conditions have to be correct to pass this test

Line Length < 3.5km to pass ( for 1mb/2mb)
Line Noise <= 55dB to pass
Line Capacitance <180nf to pass

i have rung bt faults who have done a line test which shows i am 3.25 km from exchange but the capacitance is 188!

is there anything i can do to rectify this problem myself. could my own equipment be causing this problem?? i have 3 phones plugged into the line

Re: adsl line test problems

no idea....

but you could try unplugging two phones (and any extensions) and calling BT back again, just to see if it makes any difference...

Re: adsl line test problems

Even if it does pass with one phone, plugging the others back in again is going to cause the problem to come back, which may affect your adsl. That said, 188nf is only just out of spec, and probably won't matter anyway.
