Coax Cable
I contacted VM using their online virtual assistant as trying to get through on the phone to speak to someone was near impossible.
Anyway we were sent an additional 360 box that i need to connect to VM services by connecting it to the VM wall socket.
As a result i need a length of Coax cable with the screw on ends.
The online assistant asked me if i wanted a 5 to 10 meter length of coax so i opted for a 5 meter length. I assume this will come with the threaded ends already fitted?
I remember some time ago a tech had to do this job in order to get the cable tuned to the correct signal levels if that makes sense.
Is that now a thing of the past?
They are sending me the cable through the post.

Re: Coax Cable
It’ll just be an off-the-shelf length of coax with f-connectors moulded on either end, exactly the same as if you bought cable yourself to use with a Sky or a Freesat box. Changing cable lengths in your house always has an attendant risk of throwing signal levels off, but it’s unlikely to do so.

Thanks for the info. I am still waiting for the cable to be delivered. If that fails to turn up i have seen that my local Screwfix has them in stock.

Don’t do it. It will not be the required spec.

Any satellite grade coax with moulded f-connectors on either end will be perfectly adequate. There is no reason for him not to do it.

These are VM supplied cables, so are to the correct spec. Be aware though that if your signal levels do go out of spec as a result of installing it, VM will charge you the standard £25 callout fee to fix the problem despite the cable being VM provided kit.

Re: Coax Cable
The cable from VM arrived today.I promptly fitted it but it is not working. That is i get an error saying Channels unavailable CS2004. A Google search say to make sure all connections are ok which they look to be to me.
The wall socket i have connected it to has not been used for nearly a decade and as far as i can remember its not been cut off. we have three wall outlets in different room including the one I'm trying too get to work.
The one i have the downstairs TV 360 box connected to it
One upstairs to which i have the router connected to.
FYI i have tried the downstairs 360 box on the connection that's in question and i get the same error code so i am inclined to thing the wall outlet or cable from the street cabinet has been cut off.
A tech is visiting tomorrow so i will keep you informed of the result.

Re: Coax Cable
You can try the new cable on one of the other terminals that you are currently using if you want to check the cable is good, but TBH it sounds like the terminal that hasn’t been used in a decade is no longer live. The tech should be able to sort that fairly painlessly.
