Israel says Iran hid nuclear arms programme
I imagine those with a memory of Iraq will be a tad sceptical of Netanyahu's claims, even if they dislike the regime in Iran and know that Mossad is a strong intelligence agency.
One impact today has been that the price of Brent Crude has risen above the $75-a-barrel level
Quote:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed what he says are "secret nuclear files" proving Iran once covertly pursued nuclear weapons.
He said thousands of pages of material obtained by Israel showed Iran had deceived the world by denying it had ever sought nuclear weapons.
Iran agreed in 2015 to curb its nuclear energy programme in return for the lifting of sanctions.
It maintained that it had only been pursuing nuclear energy.
US President Donald Trump, who has long threatened to scrap the nuclear deal, said the situation was "not acceptable" and he would make a decision on the deal on or before 12 May.

Re: Israel says Iran hid nuclear arms programme
I hope Trump scraps the deal, it was a dreadful deal and if the claims by Israel are true, even more so.

Re: Israel says Iran hid nuclear arms programme
If they scrap the deal then what's the carrot to stop them developing nuclear weapons? Do we want to go to war with Iran or have a North Korea scenario whereby they develop missiles and we sanction them?

Seems logical.
Quote:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s revelations that Iran has been running a secret programme to build nuclear weapons were delivered on Monday with one specific aim: to persuade the Trump administration to cancel the controversial nuclear deal with Tehran.

Let's wait to hear what the IAEA have to say about it - they're independent.

Re: Israel says Iran hid nuclear arms programme
It doesn’t matter what they say, U.S believes Israel, Trump will likely pull out of the deal and so he should. If little Iran try to instigate a war, they will be as, Crooked Hillary once quoted to have said, be ‘Obliterated’.

Re: Israel says Iran hid nuclear arms programme
Again though what's the next step after you've scrapped the deal. If you re-apply sanctions then Iran will presumably restart their nuclear weapons program. At which point since we can assume another agreement is off the cards then is it war? I am also not sure what will happen with N.Korea as they'll presumably want sanctions removed.
Or can we just scrap the deal and do it again but this time under Trump? Because the Iran deal was not easy and managed to get Russia and China on board. If it's ripped up then don't assume we can do it again.
