ITV - Mum faces jail if she refuses to write to ex who slit her throat

Telgraph - Victim told to write to vicious attacker or face jail herself

Natalie Allman, 29, feared for her life as she was battered with a dumb-bell and required reconstructive surgery after evil Jason Hughes, 42, left her with deep lacerations on her neck.

The twisted former Territorial Army soldier attacked her because he wanted to make her look "ugly" after she dumped him.

Hughes was jailed for nine years in 2012 for the brutal attack at the couple's home in Ross-on-Wye, Herefords., which was witnessed by their twin sons.

But now a judge has ordered Ms Allman must send three letters a year to Hughes, updating him on their five-year-old boys, including photographs, every Easter, September and December.

The order has been made under parental rights laws, and if Ms Allman does not comply she will be in contempt of court, and could be imprisoned.

Why should he still have any parental rights after he cut the throat of his children's mother?

If I really had to write I think I would just write the boy's are doing fine in my three letter's per year to this thug. As for sending him pictures of the boy's I would have them dressed up in an outfit with a mask example Batman so he never get's to see his children's faces again. I do think he should have lost his parental rights after he battered and slit the throat of the Mother of his children. What was this Judge thinking when he made this order.

What happened to her sounds awful so she's clearly better off without him and as far away as possible from him.

As for 'custody laws' - these are frequently ignored and abused for all sorts of reasons (mainly spite towards a former partner who's nearly always male) and without repercussion so I doubt very much that anyone would take any action against her for just ignoring them or getting someone else to do it for her.

Can she put swear words in there. like the kids are doing fine you ******* ***** and the youngest says she hopes you rot in jail.
does she have to write so many lines?
does she physically have to write it herself?

do the kids have to smile at him in the photo?

What makes me angry about this is i have two friends both great dads and no longer with the mother who got absolutely nothing from the courts but this piece of excrement gets a court order telling his victim to maintain contact this country really does extract the urine sometimes. I'd agree normally about nothing being done about ignoring the order but she seems to have the sort of luck that the judge in this case would probably hammer her if she did.

It does seem very odd indeed. Maybe there's more to this case than meets the eye and the root of this is an attempt to further dilute the rights of men/fathers than is already patently obvious by making this 'decision' (if it is actually one) appear as ridiculous as it does. It'd be nice to find out the judge's rationale and how accurate the presentation of the story in the newspaper is.
