Windows 8

How do I install Windows 8 on a brand new laptop hard drive?

Do I need to partition the HDD?

Is there a good tutorial that can help me?

Thanks

Re: Windows 8

If you've got Windows 8.1, it's the same as installing any other OS - the installer will sort it out for you.

If you've only got a Windows 8 install disc, then I believe it has to be done from within an existing install of Windows

Re: Windows 8

At a guess you will need to make the CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Drive bootable via BIOS, then put the Windows 8 disc in the drive and turn on.

You would need a full version not an upgrade.

Is the drive OS free, if not an upgrade will do.

The new HDD didn't previously have an OS installed - the laptop had Windows 8.

The old HDD was corrupted so I had to get a new HDD.

You should be able to use the restore discs the laptop would have asked you to make on its first boot.
Pop them in and follow the prompts.
