Box Randomly Re-Boots

My VBox HD randomly re-boots, some are in the early morning like 3:30am but have noticed that some also occur late morning.

I performed a test this morning, and the RF levels failed, the MCNS and Provisioning both passed.

Some re-boots show as Software boots, but some also show as Unknown.

So my question really is would this have anything to do with the box randomly re-booting?

Re: Box Randomly Re-Boots

Reboots early in the morning happen because of engineering work and are normal. But any in the late morning would be due to a fault. Ring VM if they are interrupting your viewing.

Even if the RF levels are incorrect it won't cause rebooting, incidentally.

Well one occurred at 16:15 on Tuesday and did actually interrupt my viewing.

What issues can be a result of the failed RF levels? and also what can the tech do to stop the random booting if at all?

Re: Box Randomly Re-Boots

Poor RF levels might give freezing or pixellating pictures. Or no picture at all if it's really bad. But many boxes have poor RF levels yet work absolutely fine.

The tech would swap the box and/or power supply to try to stop rebooting. I'm sure he'd check and adjust the RF while he's there, but it isn't causing the reboots.
