Re: Networking my TiVo

It allows me to control my TIVO with my iPhone and i Pad i.e. remote control, schedule recordings

Plug the TIVO into your router or superhub with an ethernet cable or use a couple of powerline adaptors if your TIVO isn't anywhere near your Superhub

I can schedule recordings from my phone already though.

When you say remote control what do you mean?

Re: Networking my TiVo

Only extras are:

1. App acts as replacement for your normal TiVo remote for operating the TiVo;

2. If you have multiple TiVos, Multi-Room Streaming is enabled.

Re: Networking my TiVo

Nope

Don't underestimate the ability to control your box from a smartphone. You can find and play recordings much faster than using the remote and of course the keyboard is much better.

Re: Networking my TiVo

Do you need a superhub to network a Tivo or can it be done to a modem and dlink wireless router?

No, should work with any router that has a free Ethernet output port available.

Do I just connect it up or do you have to enable something in the Tivo menu?

Yes, you'll need to enable the service within TiVo and get the access key form the settings. I'll check exactly how when I get home.

If someone else doesn't beat me to it

Actually I find the service pretty useful, especially for searching.

Home>Help & Settings>Settings>Devices>Network Remote Control>Allow network based remote controls

Then you need the access code

Home>Help & Settings>media access key

Install the app, input the access key and off you go. Assuming you've done appropriate cabling of course.
