Deals to return to Virgin

Do Virgin do Debt Write-off Deals to return to their services?

If not, why not?

Sky do deals to get people back where they (the customer) pays part of the bill to rejoin and then the company writes off the other part.

I'm asking because this broadband is doing my head in..4-5Mb. Everything is taking an age to download. My partner had the services previously and, frankly, because she's a "dafty" she didn't call Virgin to cancel before switching to Sky we have an outstanding bill.

She wants nothing to do with Virgin but I want (need!) faster broadband so until BT FTTC comes here they are my only option.

I don't expect any sympathy, re. the outstanding bill, but will they do a deal?

When I try online they sent me an email, they said it was an account in my name which it wasn't. So do I need to phone them and say what? I don't have the details for the other account so you cannot hold me liable.

Is it in your name? If not, then it could be a debt left over from someone who lived there before you and left without paying Virgin off. Seen loads of stories like this on the net where people are being chased for debts that previous occupants have run up.

If it is in your name, then I don't know. Best thing to do would be to call them and find out how much the debt is, and then ask how much discount they can offer to pay it off in full. Several companies do that, I had one last year which I owed over £300 to and they said if I could pay it in full within 14 days they could settle it for £125.
