The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion
This thread is for discussing all the razzmatazz, glitz, glamour, gaffes and gripes generated by the Olympic games. Please don't post discussion about the actual sports in this thread, I have created a separate thread for that here:

Re: The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion
We won it, we were elated! We got bombed, we recovered. We're in a financial pickle (like much of the world) but we've spent the money now and we'll never see the games here again so, whether or not everyone agrees it was money well spent or not, let's just enjoy the Greatest Show on Earth and make the best of it! I know I will.
Can't wait for the show to begin!

Re: The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion
I think there ought to a an alternative Olympic thread for those of us who wish to discuss the total waste of money & what else might be on TV that would be far more enjoyable than seeing £9 billion of our money wasted over the next 2 weeks.

That would be this thread. We're not going down the road of having separate threads for fanbois and haterz, you're all just going to have to get along in here.

Yes - In all his outrage I don't think he saw the word 'gripes' in the OP.

My nephew was moved over from Germany to London and then said he might get his leave just after selling his ticket for the Global festival. Guess what has happened to his leave?

Given that so much of "your money" has been "waste" on this, don't you think you ought to at least watch some of it?

Re: The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion
PS To my previous post can we all give a massive thank you to the armed forces personal that have had their leave cancelled so that they have to cover the Olympics. My Nephew is one of them and all the others out there who are doing a brilliant job for their Country?

Seeing that bell in the stadium, I think it is going to become the couldren holding the fire.

Nope because I don't want to somehow be seen to be approving of it by contributing to viewing figures or whatever other method they have of deciding it's a success.

Amazing how miserable a lot of people in Britain are... laughable, really.
Anyhow, bring on the games,I'll be enjoying the Opening Ceremony at home and in eye-popping 3D,can't wait!

agreed well said these poor lads should be not involved hope they get big money extra leave for this.
I hope every penny comes from idiot g4s boss own pocket. It the least these idiots could do for forcing these poor lads from leave, standby.
I have got relation been forced into this too from armed forces all he was looking forward too was quality time with girlfriend now been cancelled. Would not be shocked they lost it forever too knowing the way things go.
