2nd box. V+ or V hd

Looking at getting a 2nd box for the bedroom. I already have a v+ box downstairs.
The box needs to be very quiet.

If I go for tivo box or hd box, and can I watch recordings already on downstairs box.

If I go with hd box, and can I get full catch up?

Thanks

Sorry meant tivo or visit hd box. Can't change title.

Both TiVo and V-HD are quiet, so no problems there.

You won't be able to watch recordings off the V+, but will get full Catch Up on either box.

No hard disc in the VHD that's why it's silent. You can also power it down as opposed to standby so there are no lights on the front panel.

Re: 2nd box. V+ or V hd

When I had the TiVo installed, I had my V+ moved upstairs to the bedroom. I don't notice any noise from it, especially if it's in standby, no more than anything else that is in the house. You'd have to be a real light sleeper in a really quiet location to be disturbed by it.

A single red dot is all that is apparent on the V+ when in standby, plus a LED clock, so that isn't an issue either.

Re: 2nd box. V+ or V hd

That might depend on the version of V+. I think there are two types in circulation. I haven't noted anything in the config, but then I haven't looked as they wern't annoying.

But originally in standby, the V+ was a mass of blue LEDs on it's front panel, especially around the main switch. Far too distracting as there were more lights when in standby, than when on. Fortunately Virgin Media sorted that after a year or so.

Re: 2nd box. V+ or V hd

You can turn the clock off in standby on both types of V+, through the Home->Settings->Clock Settings menu. The standby LED remains lit red on the Samsung V+; no lights at all on the SA V+.
