Unhappy new tv & sky

Hi I am trying to change tv's around!! My Toshiba tv is connected to sky+ in 1 room and it works great using a scart lead from the sky box to the tv and the sky aerial to the sky box! My Sharp tv in my lounge has got skyhd and uses a scart from the dvd player to the tv and a sky aerial cable to the tv from the sky box! When i try to connect the Toshiba tv to the lounge skyhd it wont pick up any signal!!
Please Help been trying to sort all afternoon and feel like throwing them all out the window!!

Re: new tv & sky

What are you trying to use to connect the Toshiba telly to the Sky HD box? You should be using an HDMI cable if possible, because it's the simplest and best quality solution.

If your Toshiba TV does not have an HDMI socket then use SCART. Anything is better than trying to use a coaxial aerial cable.

There's some information missing from your posts.

Are you trying to connect the Toshiba tv to the Sky+HD box as well as the Sharp tv? or instead of?

What are you trying to achieve?

Re: new tv & sky

Possible problems:

1. Your SCART lead is falling apart. It happens, especially with cheap ones.
2. You're using an old SCART lead with a switch to control which direction it's sending the signal, and you have it switched the wrong way round.
3. You're pushing the wrong buttons on your Toshiba telly and therefore not checking the correct input channel for the Sky box.
4. The Sky box has a setting that turns SCART output on or off, and it's currently turned off.

I have a sneaking suspicion its likely to be (4), but I don't have a Sky HD box so I can't check whether such a setting even exists.

Instead of the Sharp tv!! The Toshiba works fine with sky+ box but not with skyhd box!

Re: new tv & sky

Did the Sharp just use a short co-ax cable from the RF1/2 outputs on the back into the co-ax aerial input on the tv ?

If you connect both cables - the co-ax and the SCART then you should be able to troubleshoot it as to why one is working and the other isn't.

You should put the Toshiba into analogue mode then manually tune it to channel 68. This should allow you to see the Sky on the Toshiba.

Why not?

Is your TV actually an HD TV?

If not - why bother having Sky+HD?

If it is - why use SCART?

You need to use HDMI* to actually have HD...

*[Although the older Sky+HD boxes also had Component]
