getting 30mb download not 60mb

Hi all

My computer has Windows 7 ultimate in a Dell Inspiron
32 bit
2 gig ram DDR1 chips
Pentium 4 processor
Radeon 3240HD graphics card DDR2 chips
Bios 8

I have a Superhub connected using hardwired ethernet connection.
In safe mode I am getting 55mb download - but in normal operating windows only 30mb. I had it checked out by a nice virgin media guy in India who did some setting changes.

Is it just my old computer cannot cope.. is there any software on the market that can diagnose or sort this problem out. or do I need a new computer with something like an i5 processor in it.

Does speedupmypc or advanced system care 5 (if you subscribe) actually work.

Is there any microsoft software diagnostics tools.

cheers
Richard

What antivirus (if any) are you using?

Ive noticed, on occasion, that some windows antivirus programs and firewall packages can slow your connection down. Try shutting any antivirus and firewall down, and retesting.

Don't worry about shutting the firewall on the computer off, you are behind a NAT firewall anyway (the superhub itself).
