Re: Lincoln Speed Probs
any particular time dude or is it ongoing. I cant say I have downloaded a tonne today but i pulled a few things from torrents this evening and got 4.8mb/sec which is good considering p2p traffic is managed in the evenings. My upload speed is also ticking along quite nicely atm as well. If I remember I'lll give newsgroups a quick blast when I get up in the morning and see what I get. Where abouts are you? I am LN6 3

Re: Lincoln Speed Probs
This is why speedtests can be a bit deceiving dude:
That is pretty much what I got from all the 3 London servers I tried, but I am using newsgroups now and it is holding steady at 11545k/sec which is 95mbit ish

Re: Lincoln Speed Probs
Weird, i would give them a ring dude and get it looked at. I doubt the fault is your end but you will need need a tech to come out in order to get it escalated

Re: Lincoln Speed Probs
Your downstream power is below the threshold . It show be between -3 and +7. I would call virgin and get an engineer booked out

I would get them to look at that as well, your upstream power is way too high which imho is the bigger issue. The problem is that the modem can't send a signal and connect to the cmts.

Re: Lincoln Speed Probs
You'll have to wait until you can speak to someone I'm afraid. VM aren't very good at multitasking lol. They'll need to sort the area issue before addressing individual customer faults, which is logical really.

Re: Lincoln Speed Probs
Good, i was going to say that your power levels need looking at regardless of the upgrades. The upgrades were planned for april-june and i was wondering how they were going. I cant see how many channels they have added because i am stuck on 4 regardless. It will be interesting to see how things go over the next 2 weeks speed wise if they are going to double everyones speed. I hope they have added enough capacity (fingers crossed).
Edit: I had to reboot my modem last night so i thought i would take a look to see if anything had changed if they were doing the upgrades. For as long as i csn remember i have always been on channels 24, 25, 26 and 27. I have changed to channels 1,2, 3 and 4 now, my average ds power is -4 and my upstream has shot up to 54 with a tonne of uncorrectable codewords. I am going to run some speed tests tomorrow morning and see if it has made any difference. I have always got my max speed so things can only get worse.
