Lost wireless connection

I have a wireless hp printer and i have my lap top on a wireless connection.
This morning i turned my lap top on and every thing seemed ok. I had to print of a letter . My printer was on and the wifi light was on as normall.
Then i went to print of my letter and nothing happend, then a nottice came up saying my lap top was not connecting to the printer.
I turned of the printer and restarted it but still no joy. One thing i did nottice though is on my printer you can print of from a mobil which to do so you have to register and this light was on next to the e print button which its not norrmally and wont go off.
I then rebooted my lap top to see if this would help but now i cant connect to the internet by wireless only by using ethernet cable which im doing now.
My wifi connection from router is ok as all lights are on that should be and my son can connect wifi using his lap top.
So basicly my laptop seems to have lost its wifi connection but all stems from trying use the printer. All was fine including the printer yesterday.
Now over the past few weeks my laptop now and again losses internet connection then finds it again i dont know if this has anything connected to the problem. Also while i cant get on wifi my lights on my lap top all say things are working ok ie wireless card .The lap top is about 4years old dont know what life expectancy of a lap top is. Any ideas how to get this runing wifi again and is the printer side just coincidence.
many thanks

Re: Lost wireless connection

The only thing I can suggest, other that rebooting all your kit, is if you have a smartphone, download a wifi analyser app, and see if anyone is using the same channel as you.

I have a similar problem, I think my router is dying, but I ain't doing nowt until I get the free upgrade.
