Re: Pay for Directors up 50%
If these stories that keep appearing, were accurate, then they would be earning billions a year.

Re: Pay for Directors up 50%
Strange - I'm a Director, and haven't had a pay rise since October 2008.
And the article states that their pay rose an average by 3.2℅ against employees average salary rise of 2.6℅ - the headline was highlighting the outliers (and I am on the other side of the Bell Curve).
btw, I think it is wrong, in this recession, for Directors to take large pay rises - even if the companies they manage are profitable, it sends the wrong message.

Re: Pay for Directors up 50%
They totally deserve it for the massive returns they've given to their shareholders over the past years and the manner in which they've shared these boons with their staff over that period.
If it weren't for the generosity of big business in paying their staff so admirably relative to their own compensation at the top and keeping pace with the costs of living we'd be in the absurd situation of having to give some of those working full time welfare in order to cover basic living costs.

Re: Pay for Directors up 50%
I do wonder what happens when they fail to actually deliver the results..Do they get sacked? Does a golden handshake accompany their sacking? And what redundancy package do they have?
