Online gaming using Superhub

Anyone out there having online gaming issues with the Superhub? I have a Netgear router at the moment and it's been causing me problems. Might in the near future consider upgrading but gaming is a big issue for me.

Re: Online gaming using Superhub

I have a superhub and game online with my xbox and PS3 and don't have any problems at all. However there will probably be someone along shortly that has the opposite experience.

Re: Online gaming using Superhub

no problem running one xbox in dmz on the superhub here, its just vm's bad jitter that i hate.

there is issues with running more than one xbox on the superhub i hear but not done no research into it because i got rid of my spare xbox just before i switched to VM

make sure you turn the ip flood off in the settings tho, i did from day one of connection but turned it on to see why folk hate it so much and boy it blocks 2-10% of icmp data packets when i tested

Re: Online gaming using Superhub

How do you turn the IP flooding off. I looked on my Router settings today and could not find a tick box for this or is it in the modem settings. If it's in the modem settings how do I access the modem settings?

You login by clicking http://192.168.0.1/ the username is admin and the password is changeme, then click on the small red writing that says advanced settings then look down the left hand side and under Content Filtering> Services you untick ip Flood Detection and the Firewall and then click Save.

Re: Online gaming using Superhub

I've had to use http://192.168.100.1/

Erm isn't switching the firewall off a bad thing to do. Can you not just untick IP flood detection?

Looked in settings but no advanced settings. I only have an Ambit 256.

You can use either ip to access the interface, the firewall is a SIP firewall and can be switched off as long as you have one on your machine, I only have IPSEC and PPTP ticked in mine and it works fine.

Re: Online gaming using Superhub

So why the thread title?

Peeps were answering with remedys for a Superhub, why didn't you say you had separate modem/router, it would've saved confusion and a lot of useless advice?

Have you actually read the title of the thread as that should match the subject matter but it is funny anyway.

Erm I did. I said I had a Netgear Router not a Superhub. And the title was asking about gaming issues to do with the superhub and me possibly upgrading to one. How we digressed was me asking how to turn off IP Flooding from asbo dog. Does anyone read the comments.

Re: Online gaming using Superhub

if you do end up using a superhub then follow Masque's advice, its upto you if you want to disable the whole firewalll or jus the ip flood, my self am running with firewall on as in test i did i saw no diffrence
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35244823-post5.html

on the netgear front i only have experiences of dg834g v4's on adsl, but i do remember that the upnp on it caused some issues when the xbox was turned off and on in short period of time and would not connect to live un till i logged into router and cleared the upnp map
