* 20Mb Wired Connection Problems (Superhub)

Hi,

We've recently had 20Mb Virgin Broadband (Cable) installed with a Superhub and I appear to be having issues loading webpages both by wired and wireless connections.

In both cases the PC is showing as connected to the internet (with strong/excellent wireless signal in the case of the wireless connection) but webpages will not load properly for a time. After several minutes and multiple refreshes of the webpages the issue appears to disappear... only to return again a while later.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue please? I have tried searching for an answer but other posts seem to relate solely to wireless connections.

Thanks!

If the wireless card is an Atheros try updating it.

Switch off the firewall and ip flood detection settings may help as it did for me.

Switching off the firewall doesn't sound like a particularly safe move to make, is it likely to have any detrimental effect on my PC?

The wireless card is an Atheros, but I'm having this problem with wired connection also (and the PC is only 4 days old so I'm hoping that the wireless care will be up to date!?)

I have the firewall switched off as I have a firewall on my PC.

It should work via ethernet and you can check the driver is up to date.

Re: * 20Mb Wired Connection Problems (Superhub)

Switching off the 'super'hub's firewall only affects the SPI (stateful packet inspection) firewall but you are still behind NAT (network address translation) and so are safe.

The eagerly awaited bridge mode firmware update will have to switch off NAT as well as the spi firewall on the superHub.

Have switched off the ip flood detection (but not the firewall) and that seems to have done the trick ... for now at least!!

Thanks guys :-)

You can switch off the firewall without any worries.
