new Samsung v+ box, noise level

finally had our old v+ box replaced due to hard drive problems.

however our new box, lovely slim Samsung jobbie is ridiculously noisy.

it appears to be the rear fan, and the noise doesn't start immediately so i guess it only kicks in once the box is hot.

is this normal, it's notably audible in silence and even when people are just talking on TV

time to call Virgin again and request a replacement? can this be done DIY?

They would probably book a technician to investigate.

Re: new Samsung v+ box, noise level

I had this problem too, but instead of having it swapped out I loosened the 2 screws of the fan on the back panel slightly and also put some blu tack inbetween the exposed tiny bit of the ridge to absorb some of the vibrations. Don't get too much noise from it now.
