50mb and WGR614v9 speed drop
Hi all,
I just had 50mb installed this morning.
The techie didn't give me a d-link router so thats on the way.
Anyway if i have the modem running on its own i get 50mb~.
However whilst i wait for the new d-link router if i use the old virgin media netgear WGR614v9 it drops to around 25mb-40mb.
I have tried different ethernet leads etc.
When the new one turns up i will plug it in but why is this old netgear not able to see the full 50mb?
Currently modem is connected to the router via one ethernet lead into wan port which then has two pc's plugged into 2/4 LAN ports.
Any ideas or is the only way to get the full 50mb to only use the modem on its own or the d-link router with the modem only or any other alternatives?
Or simply is the netgear router limiting the speed because the wan port can't cope with the speed being given to it?
Thanks,
GhostMjr

Shouldn't you return it to virginmedia once the d-link arrives?
