.Trash-999

My pc crashed and now I have this folder (.Trash-999) on the C: drive and I can't delete it as it keeps saying that the folder is not empty.

I've tried to boot into ubuntu and delete it but I still have the same problem so does anyone know how I can delete it please?

Thank you

Re: .Trash-999

Nope and when I restart my pc the chkdisk starts and goes so far and then freezes.

Certain folders on the drive wont open either as they say it's corrupted

Re: .Trash-999

I ended up having to re-install my whole pc twice (first time I did it the .trash-999 was there) and it's working now.

Anyone recommend some decent backup software?

Re: .Trash-999

This is an easy fix. What you need to do is:

1. Download and Burn a Ubuntu CD from ubuntu.com
2. Boot from the CD and choose to TRY Ubuntu (not install!)
3. When you are on the Ubuntu desktop, Click PLACES from the menu up top
4. Chose the drive with the .Trash-999 folder (usually it will say something like 320 GB Filesystem)
5. When the drive opens up, click the TRASH icon in the left pane/menu
6. Select each folder and right-click, chose DELETE PERMANENTLY from the menu
7. After all the folders have been deleted you will be able to boot into Windows and kill the empty .Trash-999 folder.
