Are you using the internal or external IP, If it's local 2 local then you need to use the local IP.. If it's WAN to local then you need to map the port. Local to WAN IP to local will not work as you're the wrong side of the NAT

my ip address are setup using dhcp from the router. I have set it up so my server always gets 192.123.123.123. Imay have used the wrong settings on the filezilla client i set the port to 21 and not to sure what server type to use.

---------- Post added at 14:50 ---------- Previous post was at 14:49 ----------

If you;re accessing it from the same subnet then no, absolutely nothing you need to do.. What's your local IP of the client PC and of the server

Re: need some help with xampp filezilla and ftping

I asked for the IP's to check that you;re on the same subnet which you are..

Turn off the firewall on the server and test it out, but for standard FTP it should default to 21....

Are you running IIS at all on the server? if yes then that will grab port 21

Re: need some help with xampp filezilla and ftping

Sorry I clear olverlooked the xampp bit... You'll need to definately open up port 21 on the firewall or check that it is open..

[edit] And what error do you get with the firewall enabled?

If the same then the firewall is OK, if no response then you need to open up the port.

The connnection refused error looks like a permissions error..

Re: need some help with xampp filezilla and ftping

Connection refused means their is nothing listening on that port 21 - nothing to do with permissions.

On a side note - if your local network is really using 192.123.123.*, you will want to change that as thats an IP range you can just start using - you need to stick to the standard private ranges.

Re: need some help with xampp filezilla and ftping

Try using a SFTP on port 22 (you'll need to do a new firewall rule and see if that's any better
