Its about time. It would be good when all porn has migrated to these new domain suffixes then it would be far easier for parents to (when developed if it already hasnt) to block all porn by blacklisting the .xxx

Why should people migrate their website to the XXX domain though? The rules are that XXX domains must be porn based only, but there are no rules that say you can't use porn on any other domain name. Can you imagine other domain name controllers losing a high valued revenue by telling them to go away?

Like any other business, they'll still register all the other TLDs and just have them redirecting to their.xxx. So, bit of a waste of money, time and effort if you ask me.

Well it has been approved... But as has previously been stated, there are no rules to say porn production companies MUST use the .xxx domain suffix. They will probably continue to use .com etc as they will (for the moment at least) be far more popular I would guess as the .xxx isn't widely known about.

It still makes it easier from a monitoring perspective. If most porn websites are going to use other TLDs for redirection, parents can just block the .xxx domain and have all the others redirect to a blank page. Porn sites get the advantage of several TLDs, while parents and workplace censors can just block out the primary domain.
The biggest problem I can see is convincing existing websites to move over. They probably get millions of visitors at their current URLs; where's the financial motivation to change?

Re: Pornography is closer to having its own official Internet domain.
I doubt if they'd use it as a redirect, probably just an alias that way they get passed a block on .XXX domains
